Biblical Garden

The concept of planting a Biblical Garden to mark the Centenary of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Bell, was first presented to parishioners in 2008. The vision was to use as many of the trees and plants mentioned in the Bible as was practical and possible, to intersperse other devotional art and to also incorporate a ‘Way of The Cross’ in a garden setting.
Many locals rallied to lend a hand to the project and the first sod was turned and a pond excavated in April 2009. The first planting on the previously vacant allotment, began in the following September.
The garden was officially opened during the celebrations to mark the hundredth anniversary of the building of the church, on 27 May, 2012.
The garden perfectly the compliments the adjacent Church which is also a popular tourist attraction featuring murals depicting the history of salvation.
