About the Artist

The Bell Biblical Garden is a project of the Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Community, Bell. The garden mosaics and other garden artworks have generally been completed under the artistic direction of Mrs Megg Cullen.  The Church murals depicting the history of salvation were also completed by Megg.

Megg Cullen

Megg Cullen combines two of the passions of her life – her faith and her creativity to produce this series of artworks which also renders a service to her community in the small township of Bell, Qld. She has been a resident for over 20 years, moving there with her husband (now deceased) and two of her eight children after completing her Diploma of Art in Toowoomba.
Painting has been a lifelong commitment for Megg. She has spent many years as a tutor and member of art groups and is a regular exhibitor and successful competitor in art shows.
Megg loves to paint with all mediums in a traditional style – generally landscapes and still life. Much of her artwork captures scenes from her travels.
Commissioned in 2003 and 2005 to paint large church murals for the people of the Kiribati Islands, Megg enjoyed the local native people and the opportunity to paint religious art. An interpretive centre for tourists in Canada inspired her idea for the murals in her local church.
Her latest project is the Biblical Garden beside the church which aims to feature specimens of all the plants and trees mentioned in the bible and includes artworks representing the passion of Christ and mosaics including one of St Mary MacKillop.
